During the summer of 1859 Blondin repeated his feat of walking high above the Niagara River on the tightrope numerous times. On occasion he made it more difficult by walking backwards or wearing a blindfold.
On August 17, 1859, he did the crossing while carrying his manager, Harry Colcord, on his back. This photograph of Blondin carrying a man on the tightrope may have been taken that day.
